FIELD: wire ropes lubricants.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of a grease composition as a lubricant for wire ropes and is: (i) a calcium sulfonate complex hybrid grease composition containing a base oil, at least one overbased organic sulfonic acid calcium salt, at least one complexing agent agent and calcium carbonate having a calcite structure, or (ii) a calcium complex hybrid grease composition comprising a base oil, at least one calcium soap of at least one fatty acid comprising a hydroxy fatty acid and at least one complexing agent, or (iii) a mixture of (i) and (ii), the composition of the grease according to (i), (ii) and (iii) contains in each case 10-50 wt.% of wax, and the wax has in each case a solidification point above 70°C, where at least acetic acid, dicarboxylic acids or phosphoric acid are used as a complexing agent and the base oil has a kinematic viscosity of 20 to 1000 mm2/s at a temperature of 40°C.
EFFECT: invention discloses a method for applying on a wire rope and the wire rope itself, which contains a plurality of wires, and before combining the wires and/or strands on the wire rope elements and applying a grease composition.
