FIELD: non-ferrous metals production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of non-ferrous metals and can be used in the recovery of lead from sludge of spent lead acid batteries. Lead is reduced from oxygen compounds of oxysulfate sludge of battery scrap in an alkaline NaOH melt with stirring. Elemental sulfur is used as a lead reductant, the consumption of which is 7.2-7.5% of the mass of the sludge with a weight ratio of sludge : alkali NaOH equal to 1:2÷2,2.
EFFECT: invention allows significantly simplifying the implementation of reduction with obtaining high-quality metallic lead.
