SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing amine oxide by oxidation of tertiary amine using an oxidizer in a reactor with an elongated hollow body with an elongated zone between an inlet and outlet with continuous injection of tertiary amine into reaction fluid and extraction of amine oxide. According to the proposed method, i) in the hollow body, at least in that part of the length of the hollow body in which amine is oxidized to the transformation degree of 50 mol.%, a surface-to-volume ratio of 0.5 m²/m³ or more is provided; ii) in the hollow body, a specific surface loading from 1 l/m²h to 40 l/m²h is provided; and/or iii) in the hollow body, a specific volume loading from 1000 l/m³h to 30,000 l/m³h is provided. The oxidizer is peroxide, oxygen or ozone. Reaction fluid is passed in the hollow body in the form of laminar flow.

EFFECT: proposed method allows for high yield and a small number of side products and decomposition products, being effective in terms of the reaction depth.
