FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the preparation of methanesulfonic acid (CH3SO3H), which consists in oxidation of dimethyl disulfide by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of strong acids, such as methanesulfonic acid and sulfuric acid, as a process catalyst, which are also reaction products, that eliminates contamination of the final product; the final product from the mixture with sulfuric acid formed during the reaction as a reaction by-product, is obtained by isolation of sulphonic acids in the form of calcium salts, they are usually soluble in water, which, at the stage of separation of reaction products, allows to separate excess sulfuric acid in the form of insoluble sulfates, feature of the invention is using a methanesulfonic acid or sulfuric acid as a catalyst, reaction at a temperature of 50-75°C by dosing hydrogen peroxide dropwise for 10-60 minutes in a volume of 7.5 moles per mole of dimethyl disulphide.
EFFECT: technical result is improved economic indicators of hydrocarbon raw materials processing due to more rational use of natural potential and wider range of products produced by oil and gas companies.
