SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering. The device for determining the location of damage to the power cable contains static generators of sound and ultrasonic frequency, at the output of which a coding unit with the “Dash” output, “Dot” output and “Common” clamping unit is installed with the possibility of connection to the power supply cable, while frequency stabilizers and an indication unit with inputs and a display are additionally installed in the receiving equipment, while the display of the indication unit is made with the possibility of indicating the amplitude of the signal arriving at its first input with a frequency of 1000 Hz in green, and the amplitude of the signal arriving at its second input with a frequency of 60,000 Hz is shown in red.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the location of a single-phase phase closure on the shell of a power cable with simultaneous combination of audio and visual identification of the place of cable damage.
