SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for measuring distances or velocities using reflected or re-radiated radio waves, in which the wavelength is irrelevant. This method can be used in the construction of systems and complexes for assessing the quality of crude oil, monitoring the process of its commercial preparation using this method for functioning of multiphase level gauges. The effect is achieved through the use of a reader and RFID tags, which contain information about their coordinates in the horizontal plane of the probe. The RFID tags of the probe are placed at different distances from the reader antenna, the probe is immersed in the tank on a measuring ruler-cable, the depth H of the probe immersion in the tank is read, the response signals from M≤N pieces of tags are read in the form of their numbers (coordinates), in magnitude M the composition of the medium of oil fractions is classified, according to the position of the fronts of pulsating changes of the first derivative dM/dH, the coordinates of the levels of oil fractions in the reservoir Hi are determined.
EFFECT: determination of the composition and boundaries of oil components without the simultaneous excitation of all layers of oil, which increases the reliability of processing the probe signals and thereby increases the volume of marketable oil output.
