FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed, which is for electrochemical activation of catalytic gauzes made of platinum metal alloys by electrochemical deposition of platinum on the gauze for catalytic oxidation of ammonia, including polarisation of the gauze with an anode current, subsequent polarisation of the gauze with an cathode current, wherein the gauze is pre-fired, polarisation of the gauze is performed using an electrolyte at a temperature of 15 to 50°C with a platinum content of 0.30 to 0.65 g/l while pumping the electrolyte; anodic polarisation of the gauze is performed with a current with a density of 0.29 to 0.49 mA/cm2 for 20 to 30 minutes, cathodic polarisation of the gauze is performed with a current with a density of 0.25 to 0.36 mA/cm2 for 30 to 65 min, wherein the gauze is rotated during polarisation.
EFFECT: increase in the catalytic activity of platinum-based catalytic gauzes with the strength thereof maintained.
