FIELD: working of metal.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a welded metal billet. A first initial metal sheet (1) is cut from the first metal strip (2) and a second initial metal sheet (3) is cut from the second metal strip (4). The first and second metal sheets (1, 3) are connected by welding resulting in a weld (10) to produce the initial welded metal billet (9). Said initial welded metal billet (9) is cut using a process including melting the metal to produce at least one finished welded metal billet (16) containing a first section (17) of the metal billet and a second section (18) of the metal billet connected by a weld section (19) consisting of a part of the weld (10). The final contour of the finished welded metal billet (16) has at least one non-linear section.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing metal waste after completing cutting and, accordingly, ensuring production of a stamped welded steel part in a cost-efficient way.
