FIELD: methods and devices for metal processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing sheets, a method for manufacturing a welded blank, a method for manufacturing a component hardened under a press from a welded blank, a welded blank, device for manufacturing a welded blank and the use of a welded blank in the automotive industry. Method for preparing steel sheets comprises providing at least one pre-coated steel sheet (11) and one pre-coated steel sheet (12) consisting of steel substrate (25, 26) and coating (15, 16) comprising intermetallic alloy layer (17, 18) in contact with said steel substrate, mounted on top of aluminium, aluminium-alloy or aluminium-based metal layer (19, 20). First sheet (11) comprises main surface (111), opposing main surface (112) and at least one secondary surface (71), and second sheet (12) comprises main surface (121), opposing main surface (122), and at least one secondary surface (72). First (11) and second (12) sheets are arranged with clearance (31) of 0.02 to 2 mm between the secondary surfaces (71) and (72) facing one another. First (11) and second (12) sheets are arranged with median plane (51) perpendicular to main surfaces of first sheet (11) and second sheet (12). Simultaneous melting and evaporation are carried out on main surfaces (111) and (121) with the removal of metal alloy layer (19) from peripheral area (61) of sheet (11) and metal alloy layer (20) from peripheral area (62) of sheet (12). Said peripheral areas (61) and (62) are areas of main surfaces (111) and (121), located closest to median plane (51) on both sides of the plane. Prepared sheets are welded and heated to form an intermetallic alloy between the steel substrate and the coating and an austenite substrate structure. Hot moulding is then performed to produce the component, followed by cooling.

EFFECT: laser device is used to manufacture the welded blank.
