FIELD: organization of personal three- dimensional acoustic space. SUBSTANCE: method is used for generating personal three-dimensional acoustic space for listening to sound signals arriving at earphones to create illusion of sounding from one or more motionless or mobile sound sources of various locations in external (independent of earphones) space around listener and may be found useful for analyzing mechanisms of human spatial hearing, for diagnosing poor functioning of ear system in testing and training operator's spatial orientation, for creating acoustical effects for musical performances or computer games. It includes generation of signals passed through headphones and responded to by hearer as externally sounding signals of various locations in space. Externally sounding signals are generated due to amplitude conversion of signal envelopes arriving at right and left ears of listener by setting range and rate of change of current binaural difference in amplitude stimulation during signal generation. Externally sounding signal may be produced basing on digital recording of actual acoustic signals or fully synthesized by means of computer.
