FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, and can be used for decompression of the median nerve at the level of the carpal ligament. The method includes incision of the skin and subcutaneous fat, dissection of the carpal ligament, isolation of the median nerve and closure of the wound. The skin is incised parallel to the medial edge of the tendon of the muscle pulling the aponeurosis - m. palmaris longus, 15 to 20 mm in length. A grooved probe is inserted between the carpal ligament and the palmar aponeurosis, with a curved end at 0.3 mm downward, the probe is raised upward. The carpal ligament is dissected transversely, the probe is removed and the ligament of the retinaculum of tendons of the palm and fingers is dissected in the longitudinal direction until the median nerve is decompressed at the border between the palm and the forearm. Hemostasis and layer-by-layer suture of the wound are performed.

EFFECT: method provides full decompression of the median nerve, prevents damage to the vessels and nerve branches of the median nerve, restoration of lost functions and reduced period of postoperative rehabilitation of patients due to preservation of the vessels and branches of the median nerve and dissection of the transverse antebrachial ligament, excluding the possibility of compression of the median nerve at the entrance to the carpal tunnel.
