FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extrusion of plastic materials. In one aspect, the invention relates to an energy transfer screw, while in another aspect, the invention relates to an extrusion method using an energy transfer screw. When processing fusible solid cross-linked compositions containing polymer, for example, polyethylene and peroxide, lower injection temperatures and increased screw capacities are achieved in a single-cylinder extruder by using the energy transfer (hereinafter – ET) screw in the extruder, which contains: ET section with length-averaged depth of ET section from 8.0% to 10% of the inner diameter of the extruder cylinder, and dosing section with depth of dosing section from 6.0% to 8% of the inner diameter of the extruder cylinder.
EFFECT: achievement of lower injection temperatures and increased capacities of the screw in the extruder.
