FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the metallurgy of non-ferrous metals and can be used for the processing of zinc-containing materials, for example, commercial zinc oxide obtained during the processing of copper raw materials in mine furnaces. The distillation of arsenic from commercial zinc oxide includes mixing, granulation and calcinating. At the mixing stage before granulation, pyrite, petcoke and lime are introduced into commercial zinc oxide with the following ratio of components in the mixture, %: technical zinc oxide 90-92, pyrite 1-2, petcoke 3-5, lime being the rest. Calcinating is carried out at a content of free oxygen in the gas phase of 0.5-1.5%.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the extraction of arsenic into fumes suitable for further utilization of arsenic from them into a product subject to safe burial.
