FIELD: vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric traction systems of vehicles. The propulsion electric unit comprises a control system, primary heat engines, electric generators, voltage rectifiers, voltage inverters, propulsion electric engines, and propellers. Each of the generators and propulsion electric engines is made two-winding and multiphase, wherein each generator comprises an excitation winding. The propulsion electric unit additionally comprises two electric converters of the excitation windings, connected to each whereof is its own excitation winding of a generator. The windings of each generator are connected to the input of their own voltage rectifier. The outputs of the two voltage rectifiers of each of the generators are connected consistently in series and form the positive and negative direct current terminals of the generator set. Each of the voltage inverters is connected by the output thereof to its own winding of the propulsion electric engine, and the inputs of the inverters of one propulsion electric engine are connected to the terminals of different generator sets.

EFFECT: increase in the reliability and power efficiency of the propulsion electric unit.
