FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of determining the strength properties of metals and can be used to determine the yield stress in crushing without destroying the material of parts operating under conditions of crushing loads. The surface of the test material is loaded by means of a spherical indenter with a load, the value of which corresponds to the range of hardness measurement, the parameters of the indent are measured and the yield strength of the test material is calculated. The loading of the surface of the test material by means of a spherical indenter is carried out with two different loads and the depths of the two obtained residual imprints are measured, and the yield strength of the test material during crushing is calculated according to the dependence taking into account the load on the spherical indenter, the depth of residual imprints, the diameter of the spherical indenter and the coefficient of plasticity in crushing, depending on the chemical composition of the test material.
EFFECT: simplification of the method for determining the yield strength of a material during crushing and increasing its accuracy.
