FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two options of a method for alkylation of aromatic compounds. One option includes: (a) passing aromatic hydrocarbon raw material containing flow of recycled aromatic hydrocarbon and optionally fresh aromatic hydrocarbon through a processing unit containing clay adsorbent, under such conditions that clay adsorbent removes impurities contained in aromatic hydrocarbon raw material to obtain flow of processed aromatic hydrocarbon, while processing is carried out at a temperature of 40°C to less than 130°C; (b) supplying at least part of the specified flow of processed aromatic hydrocarbon to an alkylation zone; (c) contacting the specified flow of processed aromatic hydrocarbon in the specified alkylation zone with an alkylating agent in the presence of an acidic alkylation catalyst and under such conditions that at least part of the alkylating agent reacts with the specified flow of processed aromatic hydrocarbon to obtain alkylation waste flow containing an alkylated aromatic compound and unreacted aromatic hydrocarbon; (d) supplying the specified alkylation waste flow to a separation section to extract at least part of unreacted aromatic hydrocarbon; and (e) recirculating at least part of the specified unreacted aromatic hydrocarbon extracted in (d) as recirculated aromatic hydrocarbon flow specified in (a).

EFFECT: proposed method allows one to increase the productivity of clay as an adsorbent.
