FIELD: waste processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for purifying waste stream (two options) obtained during the production of propylene oxide or styrene. According to one of options, the method includes the stage of: (a) a reaction of organic stream with water and carbon dioxide, as a result of which sodium is extracted from organic stream; (b) a separation of an aqueous suspension phase containing sodium salt from an organic phase having a reduced sodium content compared to organic stream; and (c) an ion exchange processing of the organic phase, where organic stream is a heavy residue obtained during the joint production of propylene oxide and styrene.
EFFECT: proposed method provides the possibility of purification of low-value heavy residues obtained during the technological process of production of propylene oxide or styrene.
