FIELD: chemical industry; environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: method of treating waste water from an industrial process for producing propylene oxide involves treatment of waste water at temperature of 120–300 °C and pressure of 2–15 MPa by catalytic wet oxidative treatment in the presence of a catalyst containing porous carbon balls with the addition of metal nanoparticles, which are included in said balls and are selected from aluminum, iron, nickel, copper, silver, cobalt, molybdenum, gold and platinum. To obtain a catalyst, a mixture of one or more aromatic alcohol and/or non-aromatic monomers, a solvent, a polymerisation catalyst, a cross-linking agent, a suspension stabilizer and one or more metal salts. Aromatic alcohol monomers and non-aromatic monomers are selected from phenol, vinylbenzyl alcohol, cresol, butylphenol and methyl methacrylate. Suspension stabilizer is selected from polyvinyl alcohol, gum arabic powder and polyvinylpyrrolidone. Obtained polymer balls are carbonised, activated and reduced. On the obtained porous carbon balls with the addition of metal nanoparticles, carbon nanofibres can be further deposited from a carbon source, selected from acetylene, benzene, xylene and toluene, by chemical vapor deposition.
EFFECT: invention provides effective treatment of waste water with high COD to requirements for their safe discharge into the environment; method is simple, effective and is carried out in mild conditions.
