FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of medicine, namely radiation diagnostics; it can be used to determine the liver border area. A method includes obtaining visualization of computed tomography (CT visualization) or visualization of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI visualization) of liver tissue. Binary visualization of skin tissue and binary visualization of bone tissue are extracted using an image segmentation method. The center of mass of binary visualization of bone tissue and the point on binary visualization of skin tissue closest to the center of mass are determined. The image of liver tissue is divided into four quadrants in accordance with the center of mass and the point closest to the center of mass. Each rib point in the second quadrant is coordinated and a rib matching curve is obtained. The rib matching curve is moved to the first quadrant and a border curve is obtained. The liver border area is defined as the area between the border curve and the rib matching curve. Information about the location of the identified liver border area is displayed. A system for determining the liver border area contains an information receiving device, a device for determining the liver border and a device for displaying the liver border, while it is possible to perform the specified method.
EFFECT: method and system provide automatic detection of the liver border area through the use of image processing technology.
