FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a large-sized modular and scalable flow battery. The modular flow battery system includes a battery block container, containing a set of blocks of flow redox batteries hydraulically communicating with at least one pair of electrolyte containers, including an anolyte container for holding anolyte and a catholyte container for holding catholyte. Additional pairs of electrolyte containers can be attached to the battery block container to increase the amount of energy that can be stored by the modular flow battery system. Corresponding cases covering each of the battery block container and electrolyte containers are made with the possibility of operating in a stacked configuration.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the power and energy storage capacity of the modular flow battery system without increasing the area occupied by the system.
