FIELD: essential oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the essential oil industry. The method for obtaining essential oil from the buds of balsamic poplar provides for loading the buds of balsamic poplar into the reactor by laying out in one layer on grid shelves, distilling the essential oil with a stream of water vapor at a steam temperature of 120°С and a pressure of 2 atm for 60 minutes, while the stream of water vapor is directed to the layer of balsamic poplar buds perpendicular to the corresponding grid shelf, cooling the resulting mixture of water vapor and essential oil to a liquid state, followed by separation of essential oil from this mixture by separating it in a receiver/oil separator from water.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the efficiency of obtaining essential oil from poplar buds.
