SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the essential oil industry. Method for obtaining peppermint essential oil in batch distillation apparatuses, including grinding raw materials, loading of the crushed raw material into the apparatus, distilling the essential oil by the flow of water vapor and discharging the waste material, cooling the mixture of water vapor and the essential oil to the liquid state, followed by separation into essential oil and water. In this case, before the distillation, the apparatus is preheated with a microwave field at a frequency of 300 MHz, a power of 500–10,000 W/kg for 20–30 minutes to the temperature of the raw material 102–105 °C, while partial distilling of the essential oil is carried out at a raw material temperature exceeding the condensation temperature of the water vapor, the resulting mixture of vapors of essential oil and water is cooled with water in a heat exchanger to a liquid state, followed by separation into essential oil and water in an oil separator by decantation, and then the distillation is carried out by feeding an acute saturated steam.

EFFECT: invention increases the content of free and bound menthol in essential oil and reduce the content of menton.
