SUBSTANCE: the group of inventions relates to medicine and concerns the use of an inhibitor of absorption of sterin of formula (VIII) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates for the preparation of a drug for reducing the concentration of at least one non-cholesterol sterin in plasma or tissues, or 5a-stanol, or their mixtures in a mammal, wherein the mammal suffers from sitosterolemia and wherein the non-cholesterol sterin is at least one phytosterin. The group of inventions also relates to a method for reducing in plasma or tissues the concentration of at least one non-cholesterol sterin, or 5a-stanol, or their mixture in a mammal, including the administration of a compound of formula (VIII) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates to the mammal.
EFFECT: The group of inventions provides for a decrease in the plasma or tissue concentration of at least one phytosterin, or 5a-stanol, or their mixture in a mammal, where the mammal suffers from sitosterolemia.
