SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the gas industry and can be used to transport gaseous energy carriers over long distances. The invention relates to a method for transporting a methane-hydrogen mixture. A methane-hydrogen mixture is formed with a hydrogen content of 68 to 92 vol. %, which is pre-mixed with pentane, the amount of which is selected based on the condition that the density of the resulting methane-hydrogen mixture reaches a value corresponding to the density of the transported gas mixture without hydrogen at pressure P=101325 Pa and temperature T=20°С, corresponding to standard conditions, according to the additivity rule using the following formula:

where A is the content of pentane added to MHM; ρCH4 - methane density, kg/m3; ρH2 is the density of hydrogen, kg/m3; ρC5 - density of pentane, kg/m3; ωCH4 - methane content in MHM; ωH2 is the hydrogen content in the MHM, the resulting mixture is compressed to 220 atm, then at the end of the compression process, pentane is separated from the methane-hydrogen mixture, which is sent to the pipeline for transportation, ensuring the pressure value at the outlet from the pipeline corresponding to the storage conditions or supply to the consumer.

EFFECT: reduction of energy costs for the transportation of hydrogen with a high hydrogen content in the transported mixture and the cost of desulfurization.
