FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used as a method for determining the residual life of electric brushes of a traction electric motor. This method is based on comparing the ratio of the brush length with the permissible one, while the calculation is made taking into account the mechanical interaction of the collector profile with the brushes, depending on the main parameters of the engine operation mode (rotation speed n, pressing force on the brush Nbp, brush current Ib, sparking power Ps), in which the calculation of constant coefficients of wear components is performed according to data obtained in three experiments with the measurement of each wear component separately.
EFFECT: calculation of the wear intensity of the brushes is made taking into account the data obtained using the on-board monitoring system for indicators of the operating modes of traction electric motors.
