SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of measuring the parameters of radio signals and can be used in radio monitoring systems for the use of the radio frequency spectrum. The spectral method for measuring frequency deviation is based on the conversion of a frequency-modulated signal into a power spectrum. The power spectrum is filtered, excluding the spectral components at a level less than a given threshold, then the weighted average value of their frequency and the frequency square is estimated proportionally to the components of the filtered spectrum, and the frequency deviation is determined as the square root of twice the difference between the weighted average value of the frequency square and the square of the weighted average frequency value.

EFFECT: measurement of arbitrary values of frequency deviation, increasing the speed and reducing the complexity of measurements.
