FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to a cutting tool containing a base of cemented carbide and coating applied to it. The base of cemented carbide contains WC, a cobalt binding phase, and a gamma-phase and has a surface zone enriched with the binding phase and depleted in the gamma-phase with thickness from 14 to 26 mcm. Cemented carbide contains an evenly distributed gamma-phase and reduced number of abnormal WC grains, a surface fraction of which is from 0 to 0.03.
EFFECT: increase in resistance to plastic deformation and increase in durability are ensured.
