FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for processing nitride spent nuclear fuel (SNF). The method for processing nitride SNF includes preparation of an electrolyte by dissolution of a valuable component in a halide melt. The preparation is executed with isolation of the metal phase of the chlorinating reagent on a metal cathode.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of isolating the chlorinating reagent from a salt melt after the process of dissolution.
