FIELD: nuclear fuel.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the electrolytic refining of metallic nuclear fuel. The method includes selective anodic dissolution of nuclear fuel components in a container with a molten LiCl-KCl electrolyte containing actinide chlorides at a temperature not lower than 500°C, selective cathodic electrolysis of actinides on a solid steel cathode, while metallic nuclear fuel is used as the initial anode material, at the same time, electrolytic refining is carried out at a cathode current density not lower than 90% of the limit value of the uranium extraction current, the value of the cathode current density is maintained by moving the steel cathode relative to the electrolyte surface at a constant speed determined by the current load and cathode potential.
EFFECT: joint electrowinning of uranium, plutonium and minor actinides on a solid cathode is provided without the use of additional complex operations and structural elements of the apparatus for its implementation.
