SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital data protection, in particular confidential and sensitive information displayed on the screen of an electronic device, through the introduction of digital tags (DT). The claimed result is achieved by using a computer-implemented method for protecting data displayed on the screens of computing devices (CD), performed using a processor and containing steps in which: a digital tag (DT) is created in the form of a graphical interface element of a given bit dimension, containing at least data identifying the CD and/or the user of the CD, and reference points; a transparent protective layer is formed that is not perceived by the human eye, which is formed by placing the DT in the form of a fractal pattern that fills the entire space of the CD screen; the formed protective layer is applied to the image displayed on the CD screen.

EFFECT: increase in the stability of information protection due to the fractal principle of forming a protective layer based on digital tags.
