FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry, namely to the determination of the content of sulfur, chlorine and fluorine in petroleum products; it can be used for the analysis of crude oil, gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, mineral oils and other petroleum products. A method for sample preparation for the quantitative determination of sulfur, chlorine and fluorine in oils and petroleum products includes photolysis of samples in the presence of reagents, the conversion of resulting sulfate-, chloride- and fluoride anions into an aqueous phase for subsequent analysis of the resulting solution, wherein photochemical processing of samples is carried out with an aqueous solution containing strong inorganic bases, alcohols and ketones at a mass ratio of base:alcohol:ketone:test sample of 1:5:3:1000, when heated to a temperature of 60-95°C for 30 or 40 minutes under the influence of ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of ≤ 254 nm and mixed to form an emulsion, followed by separation of an aqueous and organic phases to determine formed anions in the aqueous phase by known analytical methods.

EFFECT: invention provides for the preparation of samples of oils and petroleum products, which allows simultaneous mineralization of organosulfur and organohalogen compounds for purposes of their subsequent determination by analytical methods.
