FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and specifically to a method of determining total, mobile and organic substance-bound chlorine in oil-and-gas-bearing waste water. Method of determining the forms of chlorine in oil-and-gas-bearing waste water involves ionometric determination of mobile and total chlorine and calculation of chlorine bound to the organic matrix by the difference between total and mobile chlorine. Total chlorine is determined in a parallel aliquot of unfiltered water after destruction of the organic component of the sample. For this purpose, a mixture of dry residue of water with NaOH is calcined at temperature of 800–850 °C for 30 minutes, leached, boiled for 5 minutes, filtered. PH of the filtrate is adjusted to 3–4 and ionometric measurements are taken. Mobile chlorine is determined in an aliquot of waste water after boiling with a buffer solution of 0.5 M as zinc acetate at pH 3-4 and ionometric measurement of the chloride ion.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of quantitative determination of chlorine in waste water of oil and gas deposits and processing enterprises using an ionometric method with a chloride-selective electrode.
