FIELD: material processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of materials by cutting and can be used on milling machines for finishing flat surfaces. The milling cutter contains a housing in the groove of which a holder with a cutting plate is installed on an axis located in a plane parallel to the end of the cutter. At the end of the holder, opposite to the plate, there is a smooth through hole directed to the bottom of the groove. At the bottom of the groove there are two bevels, symmetrical with respect to the axis of the holder, and a threaded hole. A thrust screw is placed in the threaded hole and in the smooth through hole of the holder. The milling cutter is equipped with a poppet spring mounted on a thrust screw between the holder and the bottom of the groove. The holder is made in the form of two sections, the first of which includes an axis, and the second a cutting plate. The sections are elastically connected to each other with the possibility of moving the second one towards the first. The specified axis is equipped with an eccentric. A pusher is placed in the first section of the holder with the possibility of interaction with the eccentric. The elastic connection of the sections is provided by a spring of variable stiffness installed between the pusher and the second section.

EFFECT: invention reduces vibrations during milling and reduces the undulation and roughness of the treated surface.
