FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to electrolytes, mainly for aluminum-ion batteries. A metal-ion battery contains: 1) an anode containing a metal; 2) a cathode, and 3) an ionic-liquid electrolyte located between the anode and the cathode, wherein the ionic-liquid electrolyte corresponds to a mixture of metal halide and an organic compound. The ionic-liquid electrolyte located between the anode and the cathode contains a mixture of AlCl3 and urea, wherein the molar ratio of AlCl3:urea in the mixture is in the range from 1.1 to 1.7. In addition, urea used in the electrolyte is stable up to 152°C and is not toxic.
EFFECT: increase in the energy density of the battery, while maintaining the charge-discharge speed due to the optimization of the electrolyte.
