SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and methods used to provide decoration of a given section of the body of a metal container. The decorator comprises a sensor reading the decoration on metal containers. The control system receives the information related to the decoration read by the sensor and then determines whether the decoration complies with at least the target quality indicators. The control system can automatically adjust elements of the decorator to eliminate a decoration defect, if necessary. In one variant of implementation the control system can automatically send a signal to the decorator to adjust the position of at least one of the following components: the paint distribution unit, the paint roller, the ductor roller, the transfer roller, the forming cylinder, the press plate, the offset cylinder and the offset blanket of the decorator, to eliminate the cause of the defective decoration.
EFFECT: decoration of a metal container by means of a decorator is provided.
