FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method for controlling the metal melt flowing out of a furnace, the level of the melt wherein is higher than the level of metal outflow, includes, by means of an electromagnetic field, placing an inductor of an electromagnetic apparatus in the taphole area of the furnace and casting the metal with specified productivity and mixing. The inductor of the electromagnetic apparatus is installed inside the taphole of the furnace, attached whereto is a transport tray for transporting the metal melt from the furnace to the casting machine. The inductor comprises a six-zone winding connected according to the "star" or "triangle" configurations, wherein the connection configuration of the windings is changed depending on the level of melt in the transport tray with a change in the pole pitch and the inductor current, providing casting of the molten metal with a predetermined value of productivity and mixing of the metal melt. The impact from the traveling electromagnetic field on the melt at the wall of the casting channel leads to turbulence of the melt and coagulation of contaminants floating to the surface of the melt.

EFFECT: control of the rate of melt output from the furnace, the amount of heat energy and the intensity of mixing depending on the level of melt in the furnace is provided.
