METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF AN INGOT AND A MELTING AND CASTING INSTALLATION FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC B22D11/49

Abstract RU 2745520 C1

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting of aluminum alloys. The continuous casting installation contains a rotary mixer (1), a transport chute (2) with electric heaters (8) and a casting machine with a distributing funnel, a cooler and an electromagnetic crystallizer (3) with an inductor. A predetermined level of liquid metal is maintained in the chute (2), it is refined and heated to a predetermined casting temperature by a device (10) with an induction or conduction current lead. The metal is fed into the crystallizer (3) through a distributing funnel (12) with a removable nozzle (11) with an outlet that defines the cross section of the ingot. The ingot is pulled out by simultaneously changing the frequency of the current and the power consumption of the inductor at a speed (vc, m/s) determined from the ratio: vc=√(2g(h+H+zcr))±∆vc where g is the acceleration of gravity, m/s2, h is the level of the melt in the chute (2), m, N is the length of the removable nozzle (11), m, zcr is the distance from the outlet of the removable nozzle (11) to the start of crystallization of the ingot, m, ∆vc is the correction determined by experimentally.

EFFECT: increased energy efficiency and productivity of continuous casting of billets of a certain quality and various sections.
