FIELD: welded joints diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive methods of diagnostics of welded joints and can be used to assess their quality immediately after the formation or after long-term operation of metal structures without destruction and cutting out samples. The investigated zone of the welded joint is marked into sections from the weld in the direction of the base metal and the hardness is measured at the points in the mentioned sections. The dispersion of the hardness of each area is calculated and a graph of the dependence of the hardness on the coordinates of the marking is plotted. At the same time, the boundaries of the heat-affected zone and its size are determined, and then the reference size of the heat-affected zone for a given welded joint of a metal structure is calculated. The quality of the welded joint is assessed by comparing the obtained size of the heat-affected zone with the reference size.

EFFECT: invention provides the ability to quantitatively assess the state of the metal of the heat-affected zone, reduce the time for determining the quality of the welded joint and improve the accuracy of the results.
