FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental medicine and can be used to reproduce a model of creating an osteochondral defect on the articular surfaces constituting the knee joint when testing various treatment methods. A method for forming an osteochonfral defect in animal experiments, including the use of a set of apparatuses: a finishing cylindrical cutter with a holder and a scale for measuring the depth of penetration and an external limiter at the following stages: prior to forming an osteochondral defect, a finishing cutter of a certain diameter is selected, installed with the shank thereof in the holder and secured with a locking screw at the predetermined depth of the formed defect, an external limiter is then installed on the articular surface to protect the soft tissues, then the holder with the secured finishing cutter is installed in the hole of the guidewire, retained by a holder handle on the articular surface, rotational movements are performed by the holder wherein the shank of the finishing cutter with a scale for measuring the depth of penetration clockwise to a given depth is secured.

EFFECT: use of the invention reduces the trauma rate of the method for forming an osteochondral defect, increases the flatness and purity of treatment of the bottom of the defect, increases the identity of the formed osteochondral defects.
