FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. The proposed method for the diagnosis of viruses and viral infections in vitro and in vivo. The method includes the use of accelerated mass spectrometry, while the quantitative calculation of the virus is carried out by the amount of radiocarbon label on the envelope of the viruses, where the label is introduced without destroying the virions. Samples for UMS analysis are prepared from a labeled vaccinated liquid with a known mass concentration by adding vaccinated liquid to carbon that does not contain radioactive 14С, carbonizing the resulting mixture and determining the content of the label in one viral particle.
EFFECT: counting ultra-low number of virions in vaccinated liquid and determination of the number of viral particles penetrated into any tissues infected with labeled viruses.
