FIELD: building materials.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the use of finely ground calcium carbonate having a median weight diameter of particles d50 in the range of 0.5-5 mcm, in combination with an inorganic pigment, in concrete or mortar. A method is proposed for the improvement of the workability of a cement-based mixture, including a cement binder, a filler, an inorganic pigment, water and, optionally, a superplasticizer of concrete, wherein the method includes the addition to the mixture of finely ground calcium carbonate - fine-grained GCC having a weight median diameter of particles (d50) in the range of 0.5-5 mcm, wherein the weight amount of fine-grained GCC is in the range from 50% to 300% per the weight of the inorganic pigment, while fine-grained GCC is added in the amount effective for creating a mixture with a yield value according to a mini-cone test in the range of 350-430 mm and a viscosity value using a test in a V-shaped funnel of no more than about 7 s.
EFFECT: improvement of the workability of mixtures, increase in the strength of obtained products and high color saturation.
