FIELD: computer technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer technology for data processing for manufacturing a composite layer. A triangulated surface of the composite layer is formed and the first field of unit vectors is determined, which sets the direction of 0 degrees for the triangulated surface. The second field of unit vectors is determined by rotating the first field of unit vectors around normals to the triangulated surface by the specified angles of fibers measured relatively to the direction of 0 degrees. The third field of unit vectors, representing the direction of a gradient of a potential function, is determined by rotating the second field of unit vectors by 90° around corresponding normals to the surface. The third field of unit vectors is scaled to create a field of non-unit vectors, and the first potential function is determined by performing a least-squares selection in such a way that the direction and magnitude of the gradient approximate the direction and magnitude of the field of non-unit vectors in the best way. The normalization of the potential function evenly distributes contour lines of the potential function over the triangulated surface. Contour lines are used as fiber trajectories for laying rows of composite material for manufacturing the composite layer.

EFFECT: optimization of spatial separation of fiber trajectories by means of quantitative evaluation of convergence and/or divergence of such fiber trajectories.
