SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive testing. The primary converter for magnetic testing of load-bearing reinforcement of linearly extending reinforced concrete structures comprises a U-shaped magnetisation system, wherein the centres of the sensing area of each of the magnetosensitive elements of the first group are displaced relative to the closest edge of the end of the magnetisation system by a value Rx in the direction of the far end, and the centres of the active area of the magnetosensitive elements of the second group are displaced by a distance Ry from the plane passing through the ends of the magnetisation system, in the direction of the magnetic core thereof.

EFFECT: increase in the reliability of testing the reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures.
