FIELD: radar detection.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for radar detection of airborne objects (AO), and in particular - to methods for detecting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with low radar signature. To achieve the effect, it is proposed to use an auxiliary detection UAV (DUAV) with a passive radar in conjunction with a radar station (radar). This DUAV is proposed to be launched in advance in the direction of the expected appearance of UAVs of interest and to synchronize the angular direction of radiation of the radar sounding signals with the angular direction of reception of the reflected signals by the DUAV antenna. The DUAV needs radio communication with the main radar for two-way information transmission. The DUAV antenna turns on the commands of the control system located on the radar. In the intervals between the control signals of the radar from the DUAV, it is proposed to transmit signals with the coordinates detected by the AO within the radar detection zone. The reflected signals are also received by the radar antenna. The range and azimuth of each detected AO are determined by traditional methods. The coordinates of the air objects detected by the DUAV and the radar are compared. If the coordinates of the AO detected by the radar and the DUAV coincide or differ by no more than the value of the identification strobe, then a decision is made that this is a typical AO. If the coordinates of the AO detected by the DUAV do not coincide with the coordinates of the objects detected by the radar, then a decision is made that the detected DUAV AO is an unmanned aerial vehicle, that is, an aircraft with low radar signature.

EFFECT: development and improvement of the known method for UAV detection, providing higher detection characteristics under conditions of attenuation of electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere at large distances to air objects.
