FIELD: radiation source location determination.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the location of a radiation source using a phase direction finder located on board an aircraft flying in the direction of the radiation source. The claimed method is based on sequential measurement of bearings using a phase direction finder to the radiation source and calculating the distance to it. The aircraft is directed to the radiation source, it is aligned in the horizontal plane, the angle between the directions to the radiation source and to the right antenna is measured with the apex in the middle of the antenna base, which is parallel to the transverse axis of the associated coordinate system of the aircraft, and the flight altitude of the aircraft, the measured data is stored. Next, the aircraft is tilted, the roll angle is measured, and the angle with the top in the middle of the antenna base is measured between the directions to the radiation source and to the right antenna, and the distance to the source is calculated from the data obtained.
EFFECT: reduction of the time for determining the range to the radiation source with acceptable accuracy due to the implementation of a short-term roll by the aircraft instead of prolonged maneuvering with a turn away from the radiation source.
