FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the location of a fixed radiation source from an aircraft using direction-finding methods. Disclosed method consists in sequential direction finding of radiation source during straight flight of aircraft, fixation of first and second points of direction finding, in which angles of bearing reach specified values, which make a total unfolded angle, determining the measuring base as the distance between the first and second points of direction finding and estimating the location of the radiation source from two angles of bearing and the measuring base. In addition, upon reaching the second point of direction finding, the known value of the root-mean-square error of the measuring base is normalized to the distance to it along the traverse line calculated from the estimated location of the radiation source, using which and the angular errors of direction-finding, the optimum values of the bearing angles are determined by the criterion of minimum error in locating the radiation source. Rectilinear flight is continued, optimum measurement base is determined as distance between points on base line, in which bearing angles are equal to calculated optimum values, and location of radiation source is specified by two optimum bearing angles and measurement base.
EFFECT: high accuracy of locating a radiation source from an aircraft using a triangulation method with inaccurate knowledge of the measurement base.
