FIELD: radars.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining range using a direction finder arranged on a carrier moving in the direction of a radio-frequency source in order to reduce errors in determining coordinates. Said result is achieved due to that the method of determining range to a fixed radiation source by a moving direction finder is based on successive execution of angular maneuvers by the direction finder carrier with a turn-away from the radiation source and determining the range to it, additionally the angular maneuver is performed at constant angle of direction-finding α, herewith measured are covered path L0 and change of heading angle ϕ0 of the direction finder carrier and as per their values calculated is the initial range to the radiation source using the formula , as far as approaching measured is the change of heading angle ϕi of the direction finder carrier and specified is the range to the radiation source using the formula , where , N – number of measurements.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of error in determining range to a fixed radio-frequency source from a mobile object equipped with a direction finder.
