FIELD: paper industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polymer composition for draining water in the manufacture of paper or cardboard, or dewatering sludge. The composition includes: 2-10 wt.% of the first base polymer per entire polymer material of the composition in a dry state, where the first base polymer is copolymer of (meth)acrylamide and at least one cationic first monomer, and has weighted average molecular weight of less than 50,000 g/mol, 90-98 wt.% of the second polymer, which is copolymer of (meth)acrylamide and at least one cationic second monomer, wherein the second polymer is polymerized in the presence of the first base polymer, wherein the first base polymer has higher cationicity than the second polymer, wherein the difference in cationicity of the first base polymer and the second polymer is 3-30 mol.%, where cationicity determines a number of cationic monomers used for polymerization of the specified polymer per the total number of monomers used for polymerization of the specified polymer. The polymer composition has charge density of 0.1-3.0 meq/g and has dynamic viscosity of more than 2.0 MPa·s, but less than 7 MPa·s, being dissolved and measured at a solid content of 0.1 wt.% in an aqueous solution of NaCl (1 M) at 25°C, using a Brookfield DVII T viscometer with UL adapter.
EFFECT: improved drainage characteristics, low turbidity of filtrate, when using a polymer composition in the manufacture of paper or cardboard, or sludge dewatering, as well as faster sludge dewatering.
