FIELD: polymers.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for producing ethylene copolymers in a suspension in a reactor cascade. Proposed is a method for producing a multimodal ethylene copolymer in a suspension in a reactor cascade containing a first polymerisation reactor and one or several subsequent polymerisation reactors, including: separation of the suspension formed in the reactor cascade into particles of a multimodal ethylene copolymer and a recovered suspension medium; purification of part of the recovered suspension medium in the purification section to produce purified components of the recovered suspension medium; resupply of at least some or part of the purified components of the recovered suspension medium to the first polymerisation reactor of the reactor cascade; wherein the purified components of the recovered suspension medium are resupplied to the first polymerisation reactor containing a diluting agent and subjected to catalytic hydrogenation prior to being supplied to the first polymerisation reactor. Also proposed is an apparatus for polymerisation of olefin monomers in a suspension in a reactor cascade.

EFFECT: proposed method is resource-conserving and allows for production of multimodal ethylene copolymers with a good combination of product properties and manufacturability.
