FIELD: cosmonautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for assessing the sealing capacity of apparatuses and can be used for monitoring the sealing capacity of the body of a space vehicle in a vacuum. Air pressure is created inside the body of the space vehicle. Indicator discrete particles changing the trajectories thereof on exposure to a leaking gas flow are launched at a preset pitch along the surface of the body of the space vehicle. The trajectories and velocities of the indicator discrete particles are measured using the PIV method (Particle Image Velocimetry). The location of the leak is found by the points of intersection of the asymptotes of the trajectories of the indicator discrete particles and the plane drawn through the initial launching coordinates of the indicator discrete particles parallel to the examined surface of the space vehicle.
EFFECT: increased promptness of locating a leak.
